So of course, having told people it was an hour long, this one was two hours long .
I copied and pasted it into an HTML file for people who missed all or part of it, or who want to go back and see what it said.
Nita's Uncle Jerry is mentioned in Deep Wizardry when she first meets Fang, in chapter 11, "Foregathering Song".
DD is now more or less officially on "summer break": between writing and business travel, she says there really won't be much time to schedule a chat during August.
The next chat, therefore, will take place on Saturday, September 17th, at the usual time: 3 PM (US) EDT, 8 PM (UK/Ireland) BST.
She's also asked me to see whether the Antipodean and Asian members want to nominate a time slot which works better for them but is also OK for her. She's been thinking of alternating chats between the present US-afternoon/EI-UK-evening time slot and one that would be in her morning, but not too early, so that the people in the far Pacific time zones would be cut a little slack. If you guys want to get together and discuss this among yourselves to see what time works best for you, we'd appreciate it. (I'll copy this section to another message so that people will see the message header.)
Just another reminder, that the official chat is this coming weekend. To quote from the news blog:
Just a reminder: DD will be hosting the first live one-hour chat of the autumn season on Saturday, September 17, 2005, at 3 PM (US) EDT / 8 PM (UK/Ireland) BST. The chat will take place in the main chat area of the the Young Wizards discussion forums. Please note that you must be a registered member to attend.
For those who have questions about the latest "Young Wizards" novel, DD will be spending the last 15 minutes of the chat in the separate Wizards at War "spoiler" chat area.
If you're not sure what time the chat will be for you locally, you can use a timezone converter, like this one.
There's the main chat, without spoilers. That has a link to the spoiler chat that followed.
Note that the spoiler chat does have some questions that are big spoilers for what happens in WAW. (And a couple of DD's answers are 'teasers' for AWOM.)
So it appears that if I want to post from my home machine, I need to use IE. This is going to be the only thing I use IE for. Anyone have any brilliant ideas on how to get Firefox to open posting windows that work?
On the lighter side, for DD's next chat session I will actually be on vacation in London! This means I'll be in approximately the same time zone as Herself (provided I remember to go online at the time).
For most far Pacific chat times, if DD goes online around, say, 9 a.m. her time, that translates to 8 p.m. my time in Hawaii, and about 4 in the afternoon for Tui (I think). If she wants to do that every so often, it would be very much appreciated by those of us here in tropical paradise!

About Firefox- um, it works fine for me! Which at least suggests that it's not a totally irreconcileable problem, I just have no idea what you'd do to fix it. :-/
That time would be 9 pm for me- looks like as of next month, if DD's running on Dublin time rather than UTC/GMT, I'm a neat 12 hours ahead for conversion, Daylight Savings starting this weekend. That would be fine, preferably- I'd probably make it, for starters, especially if it was 9 am Sunday rather than Saturday. But as I've said- I can usually make the normal times (late-night revelry permitting... ) So whatever's best for meteorite and DD I'll try to make.
Have an awesome holiday, by the by!
Go ahead! Panic! Do it now and avoid the June rush! Fear death by water!
meteorite: I'm using Firefox, too (1.0.6). Maybe you can try reinstalling it, or upgrading? It sounds like you might be missing Javascript interpretation or something...

Autumn/winter chat scheduling: Due to DD's business travel schedule for November, that month's chat will probably be scheduled for very late in the month, after (US) Thanksgiving. There will be no chat in December. The date for the January 2006 chat will be announced in mid-December.
