Something strange... an error in wizards holidy??

in my copy of wizards holidy shortly after dairine starts trying to get ahold of tom and carl when roshaun tells her about the situation with the sun and dairine cant' find them it says she remembers something they say in high wizardry "she remembered something tom said once when dairine's dad asked him why he wasn't off the planet more "Harry would you normaly open the door and get out of a car you were driving?""
WH pg 282 chapter title "disruption of services"

dairine could not possibly know he said that becaus she was already running off on her ordeal this was just before nita and kit went after her.

i'm confused...
if someone could shed some light on this it would be appreciated

An easy answer, I suppose, would be to say that Nita told Dairine that comment later because she found it so memorable. Note that in HW, Harry doesn't ask why Tom wasn't off the planet more, Carl is explaining why he and Tom can't go after Dairine. If Dairine heard that from Nita, rather than directly, it would be easy to misremember the context.
