I know that there's been a pronunciation guide to Ailurian and Gaelic, but has Diane ever written a guide to the Speech?

I'd assume that we're never told many words in the Speech to keep us from wreaking havoc...

I thought it was pronounced "dye stih-o" myself.

Any other thoughts, everyone? Where's Diane when you need her?

The language of the Gael(s) -- the Celtic peoples who lived in the British Isles before the Normans and others arrived. There are two kinds of Gaelic: Irish and Scots. (The proper spelling for Irish Gaelic is "Gaeilge."

Here's a link to a New York based site, Daltai, with some basic information. But there are hundreds more Irish-language information sites scattered around the Web.

Oh, and the pronunciation is "die stee-ho". Pretty much.

And, no, I'm not going to be establishing any vocabulary for the Speech. For all kinds of reasons, which I'm not going to get into here.

I'm betting you're glad you don't HAVE to make much vocabulary in The Speech, DD. I would too, because aren't there something like 480 characters in it?

I can see why you wouldn't want to quantify the Speech( I think). In my mind at least, making a "dictionary" for it would restrict something that sort of needs to be boundless.
err, forgive the intrusion into your territory, DD.

yeah, and in one of the books, it says something like new characters in the speech are being created(or made, maybe?) every day.

a bit of a waste of paper, doncha think?

Dai stiho - d-I stee-h-O

Of course, to each their own :P...anyone not speaking the speech will recognize it as "go well" anyway, right?
