Of course, that's a different issue altogether

It just bugs me a little when people say "it must have existed sometime, because people came up with it/wrote about it/etc" (which is what they usually say), because it is simply not true. If everything people came up with must have existed at some point, well, the contradictions would be incredible.

Anna, I sort of feel the same way (except that I do believe in it). Perhaps some of what people write is real, but that wuld definetly not be why it would be real. Maybe magic isn't the type of magic we're thinking about though. Maybe magic is imagination. Oh, my! I'm getting really pyhscological here.

What people are talking about here is definitely magic, whether it's Harry Potter-style, wave-your-wand and say-the-magic-word or YW-style with some structure or something else, it's all still magic.

Imagination is what I use when I read book, to see the people and places I'm reading about. When I wrote, imagination was what I used to help me write. And now I guess you could say I use it to come up with new designs when I'm making jewelry. But my imagination can't cause anything to happen outside of me. My imagination can't directly effect other people.

Like many people, I put a good deal of faith in science. It is provable (sort of) and it is logical (most of the time). However, I have a huge problem with the kinds of people who claim that science is everything and that magic and religion are the same thing as myths made up to explain nature, etc.

In fact, the more in-depth science becomes, especially in the fields directly exploring the very fabric of the universe, the more we realize that this world we live in is more intricate than we can possibly imagine. The more advanced science becomes, the more blurred the lines between science and "magic" become.

So yes; I believe in God, in the power of faith, in the human mind and spirit, and in the infinite mysteries of the natural world. I do indeed believe in magic.

Besides, it depends on how you define "magic." Think about that.

Hola, I'm back! Thought you got rid of me, didn't you? Anyway, I see what you're saying. That was really just a weird moment when I wrote the whole imagination thingy. So yeah, the Harry Potter kind of magic is the kind I believe in. And if not in this world, then in another.

Honestly, I think I might. But in the sort of magic in the YW series. This is for several reasons.

First, I don't think you can expect to get results from no effort. This concept has been around for centuries in it's various incarnations (i.e. Theraveda Buddhists trying to gain merit to increase their 'standing' and so forth), and it seems to make sense in day to day life. You don't get something from nothing. And if we're talking about magic as a plausile, real-life thing, then I think we have to apply what seems to hold true in real life to it. So, if there's magic, you would have to work at it, to know what you're doing.

Second reason is...well...theoretical physics. I am recently greatly enamored of Stirng theory, or The Theory of Everything as some tout it to be. Without going into way too much detail here, I think it allows for the possiblity of...creating change in the nature of the universe in a manner that is not natural and would not be possible in any other manner. In a word: magic. Moreover, magic that is not widely known of, and (as far as we know) impossible to acheive at the present.

Of course, there are a number of prolems with String Theory, one cheif one being that we can't yet prove or disprove whether these strings actually exist. Among other things.

Yes I do beleave that wizards and magic excist out there somewhere and some day i hope to find it.
