Yes! There's actually a pretty active community built around the messaging platform Slack. It actually functions quite similarly to the forums, with multiple channels for different discussions. If you'd like to join, the link is here . If that link doesn't work for some reason, you can go to crossingscon.org and click on the link that says "Young Wizards Chat" and it should redirect you. Would be great to see you all there, cousins! I go by the handle thewordscomealive over there as well as on tumblr.

Do you know if there's anywhere else where discussion of these books happens more regularly? I was hoping for an active Young Wizards subreddit but r/youngwizards only has like 10 subscribers and r/errantry only has ~100. I thought I saw something about a chat somewhere for YW fans but I can't remember what it was or where I saw it. I just want to talk to more people about YW!

Yeah, it is pretty quiet these days. It doesn't have enough regularly active folk these days. The lack of integrated chat probably contributes to that, but I've noticed the same sort of thing many other places. There are many more different places to socialise on the Net these days, and folk can only sensibly manage to follow a few. The majority, I expect, sink most of their Net socialising into Facebook, or Twitter, or Tumblr, or a few others like those. Far fewer folk have time for niches like this place. Once they go quiet it's very hard to stir them into life again.

Man, the whole forum really isn't as active as it used to be, huh? Was just trying to dig around for some more recent posts about the books, especially non-spoiler discussions of GWP, but there's almost nothing here. I really miss the old internet days when there were super active forums everywhere and they were the places to be

Yeah, it's definitely been a while! CrossingsCon is definitely happening again, and it'll be on the West Coast this time, though we're still working on a location

Well I don't know how young you were when you joined, but imagine how I feel, I first joined these forums.....*checks*.....In 2003! That's well over 10 years ago. And I was not even a teenager yet. Of course, I've been largely absent for most of those years, sadly, but I still claim my ancient-ness with pride! :P

I just recently started re-reading the YW books and OMG I forgot how good they are. I also recently heard about this CrossingsCon thing, I'm so sad I didn't know about it, though I wouldn't have been able to go anyway. Maybe next year though, if I can spare the time and money away from my "adult" life with my "real" job and all...

You may have seen my previous post in TToGR that was quite a few months ago...who knows when my next post will be. I like being sporadic!

Hey all! Dai stiho. Long time no chat, huh?

Is anyone else from the Forums going to CrossingsCon? I've gotten my ticket and a hotel room (finally, long story...), and can't wait to meet a bunch of cousins in real-space!

It's been fun to poke back through old posts and stuff, though sometimes a bit cringe-worthy....I saw that there's going to be a panel on the "History of the YW Fandom" (if you're going, they're still looking for panelists - I may talk if they need me to, but honestly I'm on the younger side!) and probably some discussion of the Forums, so I thought I'd have a look at what my history on the forums has been. I can't believe how young I was when I joined - and boy does it show. But everyone was always very friendly and welcoming, and it really emphasizes how incredibly great the YW fandom is overall. I've never met a more kind and open group of people, with less fandom drama than any other I've seen or heard of. For someone who hasn't interacted much with the internet (i watch more than participate, usually), the forums has been a great place to break down that barrier! Anyways, don't mind me as I keep poking around in the cavernous archives of the forum

Well, welcome back, Neo! Hmmm... your name kinda rings a bell. *Checks your post history* Well, you posted a handful of times over a few occasions since I joined, so I guess that explains why I don't really remember you! Dai Stiho!

Oh boy it's been a long time...

Just popped back on here to see how much things have changed lately...I can't even remember how many years it's been since I posted regularly here! Always good to see the TOGR alive and well, though... Kinda funny that I happened to return to YW when the TOGR is at page 1337 :P Anyway, hello everyone! I don't expect there's many of you out there who would still remember me...

    That's so cool, Garrett!

Eric: Wow, that's a complicated way to take a class, but that's great! Whatever works, haha!

I am buried in CrossingsCon thoughts right now, and do not have much to add to the current conversation, but I want to congratulate everyone for reaching page 1337 in the TOGR!
