• I don't want to be attacked or anything, but I really don't like star wars... And I'm bracing myself for the obvious, if you don't like it, what's the point in reading this... or posting, blh blah blah... I'm not saying that they aren't awesome, they're just not for me!

• Dai'stiho Ross and welcome to the boards. I am the resident Aussie who posts on the boards reguarly.

Check out the Board FAQs and Injokes topics in the Newbie Zone for more info on who we are and the rules and such, and if you want to join in the chats PM has recently done up a Chat FAQs topic.

Don't worry about people blasting you - we won't. This is a very different sort of board than what you're probably used to, as we are a very small community. We are also from many different places and that, so we're all pretty understanding of the others.

• Ok, new movie as of now. I saw the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants a few days ago. That movie was SO sad. I cried three times, when Carmen threw the rock at her dad because he didn't even look for her when she ran away, when she called her dad afterwards, and when Bailey died. And I never cry in movies. Ever. However it was really good anyway. I suggest it to EVERYONE! Even if you think it looks cheesy and stupid, it isn't. I thought it would be a fun chick flick, but it was actually pretty intelligent. See it!

As long as you like Young Wizards, it doesn't really matter if you like Star Wars, or anything else that's discussed in this topic.
In my opinion, at least.
Now, if there's ever a Young Wizards film, and you don't like that...

... well, there's bound to be people saying the books are better anyway, so that won't matter either .

• The strangest thing just happened to me. I was bored and using a random website generator. It sent me to an 80s TV website - I'm currently having a good laugh at the ads, but more to the point. A popup was actually useful for once. It pointed me to a Howl's Moving Castle trailer. I'm scared...

• So, I got to see Howl's Moving Castle last night, and I loved it, but it's not the book, and it's not quite a pure Miyazaki. I miss bits of the book, but I love the parts that Miyazaki's added (including a war with bombing runs and huge fires, and aerial combat on a huge scale). It's an odd sort of duck. But a lot of fun. Highly recommend you catch it if you liked Spirited Away.

BTW, it was a lot of fun seeing it in Hollywood. They were doing an AFI tribute for George Lucas across the street at the Kodak Theatre (where they do the Oscars), and we got to see Chewbacca get out of a limo and wave to the crowd. Oh, and Steven Spielberg, too. [grin].

Errr, Diego, one-liners? (sigh).

• I spent a lot of my time watching Episode III laughing, too.

When we heard Darth Sidious saying: Every SINGLE jedi is now an enemy of the Republic, my bro said: Okay, Anakin's safe, then. He's married!

Later, I looked at the IE history, which is how I discovered that he got it off a site. But it was still pretty funny.

• Wow, people really are nice on here... This is a totally new feeling. On lots of other boards people stat yelling at you in all caps if you don't like what they like. These boards, somehow the poele on it seem to be almost like a family! So much different than what I'm used to! Well, thanks for the welcoming, and now I'd better leave since this is a rather off topic post!

• Yep we be family here. It's all very happy and cozy and snuggly. Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling doesn't it?
In other news, I saw Gone With the Wind for the first time a little bit ago. I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!! I HATE THE END OF THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I truly wanted to strangle both of them at the end of it. It was supposed to end with a long, passionate kiss and the words "The End" written over it all curly and pretty with the rising music and the sun setting in the background. Instead all we got was the sillouhette of a tree. Stupid tree. It didn't grow for the entire movie and it was there for most of it. Apparently they had some tree trimmers that didn't like change very much.

• If we're talking about laughing at Episode III...during the big fight scene in the lava river, my sister leaned over to me and said "Throw in the Ring, Anakin!"

I about lost it. So many attempts at very serious moments in the movie and all I could do was snicker...how inappropriate

• Cress, no matter how much you think you hate the ending of Gone With the Wind, you really really really don't EVER want to see/read Scarlett. Trust me on this one. Just say no. Even Timothy Dalton as Rhett couldn't save the miniseries, and the book's apparently worse than that.

I've always loved, however, that Vivian Leigh freaked everybody out at the Oscars that year, receiving her Best Actress award with her real accent (British).

• I have no idea who Vivian Leigh is.
Is Scarlett the sequal or something? Cause my parents said it was really bad too. Maybe I'll just write a cheesy fanfic sequel. I just need to think of some highly intelligent way for Scarlett to get Rhett back...ok it might be a while before I write this one.
Oh yeah, and my parents named me after one of the actresses in Gone With the Wind. I won't tell you which one though, you'll just have to wonder.

Some actress. She's dead now. She had a part in Gone with the Wind, I believe. You may remember her - Scarlett O'Hara.

So now you have a better idea why she freaked out the Academy audience by talking with her normal British accent.

• Cress, it's not REALLY a sequel, as it was written by someone else (i.e., not Margaret Mitchell) only a few years ago. There was a trend at the time to do that kind of thing, so someone wrote a "sequel" to the Lord Peter Wimsey series (starting with notes left behind by Dorothy L. Sayers), and someone wrote a "sequel" to Rebecca, and someone else wrote a "sequel" to The Secret Garden.

They pretty much all stank to high heaven. I'm really glad that trend seems to have tapered off.
