That's the thing with the Politica Compass quiz, it's one of those ones with "Strongly Agree" or "Strongly Disagree" "Agree" "Disagree", whatever. I think it's better than having a multiple choice kinda thing like this one.

The following items best match your score:

      1. System: Socialism
      2. Variation: Moral Socialism
      3. Ideologies: Activism
      4. US Parties: No match.
      5. Presidents: Jimmy Carter (83.17%)
      6. 2004 Election Candidates: Ralph Nader (88.73%), John Kerry (73.30%), George W. Bush (40.30%)

I agree that the Political Compass test is better, because it's more easily acessible- this one's kind of confusing because it doesn't use any recogniseable scale, although I suppose that's kind of the point. On the other hand, I find that the idea of "moral politics" kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth (although nowhere near as bad as the taste of my being 40% similar to George W Bush.) Politics and government aren't supposed to become involved with morality- because what we think is moral varies so widely. Also I feel like the concept of an abstract, absolute morality, such as you often find in very conservative religious groups, is very seductive and powerful and leads to some really awful, awful decisions and acts by a government. Morality, as this test attempts to demonstrate, is relative and personal, there are no absolutes. Which is not to say that I don't, personally, have a very clearly defined morality (go on, ask me about it. ) I just... am wary of the idea of governing through morality.

The following items best match your score:

          System: Socialism
          Variation: Moderate Socialism
          Ideologies: Social Democratism
          US Parties: Democratic Party
          Presidents: Jimmy Carter (95.06%)
2004 Election Candidates: John Kerry (88.95%), Ralph Nader (86.56%), George W. Bush (57.10%)

Odd. I thought I was more liberal than that. Not sure how accurate this test is, like Tui, I'm dubious about the idea of using morality like they do...and 57% similar to the Big Dubya?!? God, I hope not.

Actually, Ella, I think we're above and away the most liberal here, by dint of being socialists... looks like it returns people as being more conservative than they really are. Although, woo, apparently my ideology is activist! *unsurprised*

I didnt really like this quiz...like someone else said, the options werent wide enough.

It said i was a conservative based on the answers, which may be true, but I'm definitely not Republican, like it implied.
