I remember, vaguely, a forum discussion involving an illustration...perhaps for a cover?...by David Wiesner--but not the cover he did for SYWTBAW. I can't find any evidence thereof. Does anyone else remember more?

Quill: I imagine that you're thinking of the discussion that ensued after DD put a copy of the poster by David Wiesner that inspired "Uptown Local" up for viewing on the forums for a little bit. There were various members (you and I seemed to be the most vociferous) that thought that they had seen that image before, but no one ever figured out exactly where (or whether our collective memories where just playing tricks on us).

As a matter of interest, this image is now located in the publication history section of YW.com (here, in fact).

THANK you. As it happens, I at least have seen it--sort of. And I finally found my copy of it. A slightly redrawn version is the cover image for Nancy Willard's Firebrat, and Mr. Wiesner did the interior illustrations as well. Or perhaps the cover came first, and he redrew it for the image we saw...?

But we're not crazy. At least not that way.

Hee hee. BTW, I am now ferociously bummed that I no longer have the jacket to my SYWTBAW? hardcover, given that I am now a major Wiesner fan. I think Tuesday, Sector 7, June 29, 1999 and The Three Pigs are my faves of his books.

Ever seen his covers for the hardcover editions of "The Spellkey" and "The Glass Salamander"? I love the luminosity. Unfortunately, the one-volume edition of that trilogy got a different, far inferior cover artist.

              Nope.

              Not yet. :-)

I also need to track down some Larry Yep stuff he apparently did the covers for. So little time...

And my thanks to you, Quill, as I can now finally put my mind to rest on that question. As far as I can tell, I most likely saw a copy of Firebrat at the local library some time ago, for, although I hadn't read it before, the local library has had a copy for long enough that it's quite likely that I saw it on display, or came across it whilst browsing through the stacks.
