I would choose elementals. relize, people, that if you have control of air you will be able to fly. same with invisibility. you wouldn't need super strength. you could laser with fire. element control is the only way to go.

I always wanted Cypher's superpower: the ability to learn any language (both human and computer) nearly instantaneously. Maybe coupled with Vigilante's (the ability to learn any physical skill by watching someone do it.)

That aside, I think I'd like Professor Xavier's power. Telepathy is something that is the most interesting to me as a psych major, as it opens up fields of observation that are impossibly limited at this point in time.

In terms of the actual poll, I voted for flight, because it has a practical value(flying over traffic jams, saving on costs, being able to see the big picutre...) to aesthetic value(feeling the wind as you streak through it, looking at the world like a hawk sees it, the ability to be free of gravity...). I feel that being invisible isn't too practical - there are always other ways to see someone who's invisible(infrared, anyone?) and that it's too dishonorable. Elemental, powers, on the other hand, are too easily countered by their opposing element.

I chose flight, also.

The others didn't really appeal to me, power over the elements seem rather useless, unless you start connecting elemental powers to abilities (water to healing, and such) and not just direct control over those elements. Invisibility, save from several trips to the girls locker room (I kid, I kid!) doens't seem like it would be altogether useful. Super strength would be... interesting but *shrug*. Laser/X-Ray vision tends to go back to the locker room comment...

Flight seems, like Sean said, that it would be useful. But futher, it seems like it would be an escape. Who here hasn't seen a small bird spread it's wings and go from idling about on the ground to soaring in the sky in just a few seconds? It seems like it would be the most enjoyable of all the powers listed.

However, if I had my choice of which power I would want, I'd want to be able to heal. Think perhaps what Alvin can do (in regards to healing) in the Alvin Maker series by OSC, or maybe even the abilities from Roswell. Just be able to use my gift to directly help others would be what I want.

Actually I think you can do a lot with the elements-with air you could make yourself fly, if you knew how to control the wind the proper way...you could cause earthquakes, floods, fires. You could swim insanely fast. You could landscape your garden really easily. I dunno, it just seems to me that you can do so much with them.

I would love the power of flight, after seeing Sky High its just sooo appealing! I mean it would be cool to have more than one super power BUT it worse come to the worse I would pick FLIGHT! Even though I'm a little scared of fights but lets face it if you could fly why would be afraid of heights?

You know what that is a far comment Cress, I must of skimed read this post before but that does make so much sense. But dont you tink that there is such a thing as too much power? I mean if i had the option i would still only have flight because to my controling all the elements sounds like too much to m.

I'd say, yeah, flying would be a ton of fun, but I'm afraid of escalators, let alone flying with no visible means of support. So, if my fear of hights would go away, then I might pick flight. Otherwise, I would keep my feet firmly on the ground and go with power over the earth element, or power over plants. Just because I'm so plant-crazy. Like, if anybody's ever read Zel by Donna Jo Napoli, the mother/witch in there has plant powers. Of course, she got hers from something not-so-nice, so maybe not the best analogy.

I'm so in love with plants that I would just about die from happiness if I had anything that would let me work with them better. Even just talking to plants, being able to hear about the world from a plant's point of view. That's possibly what I want most in the world.
