I don't think it's necessary to change the title. In fact I think we may have gotten off subject, so we can just move it back(no problem.)

On the other hand, I absolutely agree that religious concerns and government concerns should be seperate. I just don't think that that will stop people from abusing the ignorance of the masses. It just takes one tool away from them when they have a full tool belt.

If there is a high percent chance that god exists, then there is a high percent chance that there are little green men inside our heads. They are both one hundred percent false.

          What was the origional title?

I didn't say god exists. I said don't judge those out who choose to believe. We can prove that little green men do not live in our heads...so that is a bad example.

I simply said that the possibility of someting amazing we don't know yet is more than possible...we don't know everything, it's probable, and if god is something we discover, then hey...

Plus there is the point about Conceptual Reality....if enough people believe in god then the theory says he does exist.

No we can't. They have superior technology and turn invisable. They also defy ever radar and gadget cientists think of.
We also can't prove that God doesn't exist. People can explain why we haven't seen him (he's the almighty! If he doesn't want to be seen, he won't be!), why we haven't driven into heaven in our airplanes- (heaven is too complex), and because God is God, we can't catch him on satalite images.

I don't think you exactly get my meaning now. It's not that I think "God doesn't want to be seen" I just don't think he exists in our reality. But hey, whatever, if you want to make people sound stupid, you can do that too.

The point is that my beliefs don't really matter in this field because i'm not trying to enforce them on you and i'm never attempting anything even remotely resembling applying them to my social or government beliefs.

In fact i'm not applying them anywhere but spiritually.

But that's besides the point, now I have to go figure out hew to get the little green men out of my head! Thanks a bunch.

i think the problem with some religions isn't the beliefs them selves...it's the people. i mean, i have no problem with any relgion (unless they require human sacrifice, which i DO have a problem with) but sometimes the people just take it to far, going against everything their religion says in the name of their religion...if you want to accomplish a goal that goes against your religions very foundatiosn DON"T USE YOUR RELIGION AS AN EXCUSE!
                  I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

yw i agree with you full heartedly... i think that people are using religion to control others wich is extreally crule i think that people should just exept the religion and not use it as an offence or defence.

elder math: now to you i think i get what your saying about god existing in our time and plane?right? now what i think is that there is acually one god (or many) but all the bibles depicts him/her and explains his/hers existanse and reason for being here.
its a long long walk to the end of the earth... but let me tell you if im walking to you then i'll walk farther than you would have dreamed possible.

I can't find a link to the episode. Sorry. But tonight's show on 20/20 was about do you believe in hell. It was interesting because it showed what just about any religion you can think of thought of it. It showed you how in such in such B.C. how some cultures as well as different religions thought of hell and how the views of it changed throughout history.

                      http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3356360&page=1

I also thought that this was pretty interesting. This pastor by the name of Carlton Pearson started to question the God that he preached about so much and now he no longer believes that there is a hell.

Elie Wiesel spoke of his time in the concentration camp called Auschwitz. As well as some other individuals who have survived their own 'hells'. Like a civil war in Sierra Leone. Or the missionary who was kidnapped and tortured. This is what they think of hell.

And Ulysses Handy who doesn't believe in hell and if there is one claims he is not afraid to go. He said that he doesn't care that he killed those people and that he wouldn't change a thing now. He has no regrets.

This man named Matthew Dovel said he's been to hell and back. This is his account of it. So maybe you guys can check this out.

I just found the whole show interesting that's all. I'm not condemning anyone for those of you (and this includes the moderators as well) who might take offense. I just wanted to clear that up now before I get accused of it by misunderstanding.

Should I start a topic on that as well? I am quite curious, too....

Well back to religion talk.... I an Catholic. My mom says the only reason she had me baptized was because my grandmother wanted it to happen. So I was baptized, and eventually a few years ago my grandmother made arrangements for my first holy communion. So my being Catholic really wasn't my choice, but I don't have anything else in mind to practice so I might as well consider myself Catholic. I hadn't been going to church, so my grandfather corrected that... usually every Saturday I sleep over at my grandfather's and we go to church on Sunday. I don't mind it now that it's every week. But before I had been going every week it was wicked long and boring, but I suppose I kind of like it now.

Edit: Neat! I've never made a post that started a new page before here, or at least not that I can remember....

What about animal sacrifice? Poor chihuahuas!

When we were backpacking in bali, their were some puppies at the guest house that we stayed at, and they were going to be sacrificed, but only spiritually. A gold knife would be held over them and some prayers said at the birth of a baby, but the puppies would remain unharmed. It was still unnerving to think that it used to be different....

I wonder how many people have died because of religion, because of wars or sacrifices or genicides.... It's a depressing thought.

Religions are fine, in my oppinion, in that they give a basic core belief system....but you should still think for yourself. In my case, while i'm jewish, i still have own complete set of beliefs that work along the confines of judaism, but are slightly different in various matters...you need to follow things you truly believe after having thought about them, not just follow whatever a religion happens to be saying because that's what the religion says. at least, that's my oppinion.

You just said who Elie Wiesel is. And if you read what I wrote and clicked on the link you would find out. He was in the concentration camps and is a world renown writer but how cares when were talking about his experience. That's all that's important here.

                                That hell recording was scary.
