I want to go to Canterbury University in Christchurch. Starts next February, and I just went down to Christchruch with my best friend for the open Days... it was fairly exciting.

I want to take Maths, Philosophy and either Anthropology or Linguistics- a BA-Bsc, so that's four or so years, with a double major in one of them- probably the BSc, because maths and phil. are both BSC OR arts courses, so they can credit to either, but there are more extra arts courses I want to take- like French. *shrugs* I'm not all planned yet, but of course I don't have to be.
Go ahead! Panic! Do it now and avoid the June rush! Fear death by water!

I'm going to bew going to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee on August 21. I will be majoring in General Business, maybe with a concentration in ISM (Information Systems Management). Most of the people there are Music Business or Commercial Music majors...and at least one of my roomates is. I know the one roomate, Katie, fairly well. The other roomate hasn't been assigned yet...but college is going to ROCK!!!

I don't really know where I want to go to college. But I really want to go anywhere far away from Minnesota. I've always wanted to be an exchange student and go to a different country to learn...

I got a BS degree in EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) from UC Berkeley. All my info about Cal would probably be wildly out of date, though.
New to the board? Please take the time to read the YW Board-Specific Rules, or Why We're Not Like Other Boards FAQ.

I'm aiming for the University of Waterloo, it's Canadian, pretty hard to get into, and definitely one of the best. It's well known for its co-op programs, it's the only university in Canada with that many co-op programs. Co-op in Waterloo means that they assign you to an employer in your field, and you study at the university for four months, then work for four months, and then you're back at the university for four months, then work, etc, and this goes on for five years.

The biggest plus is definitely that you get a PAYCHECK (that can lessen or eliminate the need for student loans), a whopping amount of experience in your field, references in your field when you graduate , and if you're lucky, a job offer.

It's why it's so hard to get into, because most of the co-op programs only have space for 50-100 students. In some programs, you need an above 90 average and a load of extracurriculars. I really want to get in though, and my current average is 91% (it WILL go up! IT WILL GO UP!!!!! GRRRRR)

I know in the States, your education system is different and you get 'weights' for AP and IB courses and it's not an A until you're at 90% (In Canada, As are at 80%). And I hate it when Americans judge my grades by their standards. *rolls eyes*
"Man, you must be really stupid."
"No, idiot- if you want an approximate grade in American terms, ADD TEN PERCENT. *rolls eyes*"
I knew a girl who got into Princeton university... and then turned it down for Queen's University in Kingston... that should settle any lingering beliefs that Canadian Universities are not equal to that of the USA...

Edit: Sorry, I'm just way too annoyed at people who judge me by American standards. They make me want to hit them. I suppose I'm not THAT bad off by American standards, but I hate not getting the full respect I think I should get. I don't want to be graded as "an A- student." I'm so much better than that. A- is like my bf... he can do better, he just doesn't apply himself. I'd be properly ashamed of an A- (unless it's in Art, in which case I don't care because it's only Art). And YES, I do have an animus complex.

Well, if I don't get into Waterloo (my extra-curricular list is shabby at best), I can settle for the University of Western Ontario... One of the top schools in the country, close to home and easy to get into with my grades. It cut off is only like 88%.... I could make that if I surfed through the rest of school, slept in class and forgot about doing homework.

I dunno about Texas being boring..... Anyways, that is so cool, Aurora! They should have something like that here. I want to go to ASU like I said, but, at first I wanted to go to Baylor University. But, it's wayyy to much money and, it's in Texas! I reallly want to go to school in Arkansas. I want to be a doctor. So, I need to go to a good medical school. Aurora, if I was talking to someone not from the states and they told me there grades, I would probably ask if it's the same as where I am.

I kind of want to get out of TN, but Belmont sounds really cool. The reasons I'm going there is that they're the closest college with the right computer classes, and also a friend of the family goes there. (A particularly hot friend...) Another college that interested me was a community college in TX, b/c they have Network Security classes. (basically, they teach you how to be a hacker so you can stop the "bad" hackers) And last but not least, I wanted to go to Seattle Pacific University in Washington, but they don't have the right computer classes and they're a bit far for me right now. I do want to live in Washington eventually, probably near Tacoma.
