I totally think of you guys as friends!! Or at least the ones that come on enough. And the T- Shirt idea is great! I already have "Agent M" written on my jeans, but that's not as good as on a T-Shirt.
See the good thing about online friends is that we can't judge anybody for anything but their personality. Let's just say someone was really ugly, like car accident ugly, a lot of people in "The Real World" would judge them and stay away from them. But here we have no idea what anyone looks like unless they tell us. And let's say someone had a stuttering issue or a lisp, that wouldn't matter here because we can't hear what they're saying, we just read. But then the bad thing is is that we have no idea (well maybe a tinsy bit) about if anyones lying or not. I mean I don't think that the people who post way often like... Birdhead, Rysade, Db, papercrane, firewitch, brokencello, etc. Basically anyone who's posted more then 10 posts and isn't a newbie, it's the people that don't post that could be lying. Cuz the way I see it if you post and put effort into those posts and they're completley random or something then well I mean you could be lying about the little stuff, like where you live, but I doubt anyone who posts way often would put that much effort into a post if all they wanted was to come and kill or kidnap someone. Okay... I should stop now. Off topicness this is probably getting long enough so no one will read all of it..... But my point is is that I like you guys and you're very cool net friends.

I agree with Agent M. I might be a hag...you don't know (don't worry, I'm not). In a private topic yesterday, I was talking about Moby Duick, the book, without the U I stuck in there. The computer asterisked it. Lame, I know. Oops. Lee, DD, I'm sorry. I think you guys are awesome friends. Like, if someone asks me who my VERY best friends are, I'd probably list some of you guys. *flicks cigar* But I wouldn't want to meet. It might shatter so many impressions...Maybe I picture Agent M as a tall blonde (I don't) and then I meet her and she's really a blonde him!!!!!! That would never happen, I'm sure. It was just an overdone example to state my point.

Okay...
Well, yeah. I'm closer to some of you guys than I'm with some of my so called friends!
Okay- I'm Chinese-Canadian, female, will be 15 in December, and am about 5'1 or a lil taller. With black hair and eyes.
^^ I think you and I look a lil similar, Papercrane!

Yes, I definitely count many of you/most/all of you as friends. All of wht Dave said I agree with... it's something he's spent a long time thinking about, obviously!
*grins* All the T-shirt stuff- I've been thinking about printing myself a T-shirt with birdhead on it, actually.
I was thinking I'd have a quote from the Oath on the front and then Birdhead on the back, just because. But no-one would see it, unfortunately, because I'm the only kiwi around. *is sad*
As for the IRL meetings- done it, actually, once. A site I used to visit a lot, www.wotmania.com, has a huger number of people there. Someone (from Nelson, NZ) was coming to Wellington and wanted to meet a couple of people to show her round. My best friend volunteered and took me. *shrugs* We went to a museum. it was fun. it was interesting...
However, I would say right now: DON"T organise a meeting. Really, I wouldn't, unless you're an adult, or your parents think it's a good idea. (YES, I asked my parents first.)
The general guidelines do seem to be, though:
-TELL your parents/other responsible person where you're going
-TAKE someone with you, preferably more than one
-Make sure you do it in a public place
I jsut thought it might be a good idea to mention that the Internet is not a safe place, or isn't always. Of course, many people DO have internet meetings and nothing bad happens... there're quite a few, I think, at Wotmania, especially mass ones.
That said...
It would be SO cool to meet some of you guys. A couple of people have said they feel close to you guys, and I guess I do too, definitely. Like Dave, i think a lot about knowing people over the internet. it's... strange, yeah. It has a really abstract kind of feel to it, sort of- all empty space. (It's also great because you can RANT to people here in your head, and you never have to type it up or anything, and you feel better. Ever done that? Several times when upset or frustrated I've written out a LENGTHY RANT to the general forum. never posted it, but it's a good way to let it out.)
I agree that it's also good because you can't interrupt, and you usually have time to think before you say something. Not always, but often, which means that you can... sort of balance it out in your head. Think, do I really think this? Do I want to say it like that? You don't have that opportunity IRL.
Dave, I see what you mean about the safety site. Ick. "The guy or girl who seems perfect, definitely Mr. or Ms. Right, is actually married to Mr. or Ms. Right. Many of the people we find online seeking out love today are not seeking out love but an affair. The internet provides the perfect cover and protection." Urgle. That's really strange, actually... *rolls eyes* Silly, in fact.
Agent M: Not neccesarily true. Sometimes stalkers do spend a LOT of time creating internet personae for the deliberate purpose of stalking people. If someone approached me individually and said "wanna meet," I'd have to be pretty sure of them before saying yes. i'd much rather meet in a general "does anyone wanna meet up" kinda way.
Papercrane: swearing on chocolate? Nice.
Me would be 16 yr old medium-tall girl with light brown (otherwise known as "mouse") hair. Very indistincive.
Hah. You know, this might just be the least internet safe topic on the boards. Anyone feeling insecure?

Heehee, Yep, papercrane!
I believe I DID tell you all about the guy here that asked for my phone number... I set a friend on him who pretended to be an ISP guy and threatened to cut off the internet.... It was funny and stupid at the same time, but it served the purpose. The guy, Bryan? I think, leaves me alone now.

*nods* Yeah, EDIT is just the best.
Hehe... it WOULD be cool. Next year, when I'm in NY ( I think we're going to Washington too, actually) I'll try to get that T-shirt printed and wear it.
