*becomes punctured with tacs* AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! *throws dead mice*
I can create a world, out of letters and words. I can make you believe something in a paragraph. I can make you love someone in a page. I can make you go places that don't exist in a book. That's all the magic I need. [url]http://melpomene.freeforums
Um... why was this revived? It died for a reason- the FAQ says no short and/or pointless posts, and this is essentially an entire thread of them.
In October, Kathy posted:
Guys, I hate to spoil the fun, but is this REALLY the best use of DD's pennies? Is it YW-related? Is this something that needs to be archived and searchable, rather than something ephemeral, best served in chat?
In this post thread, we are using our creativity to amuse ourselves and our fellows and we are expanding our conscienceness by using the so said creativity. Expanding conscienceness and using our creativity is the best way to become artists, whether that be graphic designing or writing. Also, if Diane Duane had wanted us to be totally serious and not have fun, she'd have only let professors with two or more PhD's write on this forum. That is why we are participating in this thread. Thank you very much.

No one ever said you had to be perfectly serious all the time; just that Diane Duane pays for this board herself and we try to make our posts worth it.
You can be creative and interesting and have fun without wasting space. Forum posts will be around a long time, and people will come through and read them, or find them while searching for something else- is this the best thing to have archived so that people will come and look back on it and go, "wow, this is a really interesting conversation"? For one, it's not a conversation. It's just actions.
As Kathy mentioned (actually, I think this whole post is pretty much just going over what she said), some things work better in chat. It's temporary, it's more fast-paced, and it doesn't take up space on the board.
Oh, and welcome to the forums. :P I'm probably coming off as this horrible, newbie-attacking, bitter old member or something, which isn't the case, I swear.
Don't worry! You came off as a perfectly resonable person. I actually agreed with you, but if no one stands up for the random people, who will?

And now, to continue after that breif invasion of sanity...
*whips out umbrella to deflect bad eggnog*
gross. I don't even like eggnog when it's NOT bad.
*chucks sticky grenades at next poster*
or, if thats *inappropriate* ( I doubt it, but you can never be too careful)
*empties truckload of open cartons of 20-year-old orange juice on next poster* (read: yuck)
sidesteps snow. And uses mod powers to close the thread.
Folks, you may want to take a moment to read the Board FAQ, and discover why this sort of thing is discouraged. The point of this board is to discuss the YW books.
