Ok here's a theory. What if the hernssen didn't write the manual,and the other refrences in the door and other books are either coincedences or DD is letting us speculate about a connection that was or wasn't intentional and is being amused by it.

maybe DD does this for fun?

They're a fantasy series, with princes, magicians, dragons and so on ... though not quite in the way you'd expect.
Yes, DD wrote them. Door Into Fire was her first published book. The first two books have been combined in one volume, and the third and fourth books will be published as one volume, when Door Into Starlight is finished.
