I liked it, but I can't stand to see Kit and Nita fight. It makes me want to tear my hair out, but that's just me.

I read Dilemma straight through in one sitting Christmas Day. I think it was the hardest to read so far. Not because of any difficulty understanding or any lack of quality in the writing, but because of how much I have invested in these characters, how much I identify with them. Seeing them go through that much pain made it hard to read.

I remeber reading Dilemma on a plane ride, straight through, without stopping. When I came to the last chapters, when Kit and Nita were inside Nita's mother's body, and the chapters after that, I almost couldn't bear reading it anymore, seeing them go through so much pain. I remember, at the end of the book, I started crying and I couldn't stop. I was stunned at myself because I had never done that with a book before. I hated to see the characters in so much pain, so I just sat there with tears streaming down my face for like a 1/2 and hour.
I'm not sure if I liked it or not. In one way, Dilemma was amazing, and I loved it because of how real it seemed and how well written it was. But in other ways, I hated seeing how much pain the characters had to go through.

I just read what I wrote and it doesn't make too much sense, but I hope people understand what I'm saying. Does anyone else feel this way?

Dilemma is the Wizards book I'm least likely to reread straight through, because of the stress and grief the characters are put through. It feels wrong to see Nita and Kit fighting, and then not working together for most of the book. A tearing of part of the fabric of the universe built in the books.

Still, there are some wonderful moments. Kit's trip through the universes with Ponch (which always makes me want to try to identify the universes they walk though), Nita's first run in the practice universes, any scene with the Pig... "And besides, I've always been a sucker for young- well, people in your situation."

I am the same about the rereading. I hope that this next book is better with that, with no fights.

I think page 127, with the dragons, might be from her Door series. 128 looks like it's from The Abyss, but I haven't seen the movie to be sure. 236 is the Edain coming from the fall of Numenor.

The fights....hmmm, I can't believe I almost forgot about how much they fought in Dilemma. I still think it was an amazing book though, even if it is the one I will most likely read again. I mean, eveything can't be great between them all the time...thats the thing that makes these books so great, that they are so realistic. But I can everyone's point... even though it is normal for them to fight, it doesn't make you feel any better about reading those parts of the books.

i just finished the book the only reason I found it in the first place was because I was looking at the bookstore I shop at for a new book and saw the series and decided to look at the new covers that had been but on and to my surprise there is another one I was shocked I wish she would have publised a bit more
But back to my point in the middle of the book I was crying I could not stand the fact that Nita's mom was dieing and then I read the sneak peek at the next book and I almost fell off the bed (my usuall reading spot)her mom actually died I knew it was comeing but I had someone go through the tumer and cancer thing and she was alive for a year and a half not just ya know 6 months I was shocked!!!But what are you gonna do gotta keep the book rolling right?

*weeps*

I am the dumbest person alive.

I finally have a copy of Dilemma, and I can't read it.

Why?

I'm not going to until A Wizard Alone is out and someone tells me there is a happier ending. ANgst is all good and well, but I need relief, else I'll be crying until September.

It aches my soul not to read Dilemma. but it would ache more knowing they go through all that grief and not having something else to soothe it with...

Hope I make some kind of sense here...

Well... *take a deep breath* I'm going to prolongue my grief and read it a chapter a day. Else I shall read all of it at once and then feel totally bereft.

Besides, there is no greater feeling to me than the first time I read a truly excellent book. Since all YW books so far have fit that description, I know A Wizard's Dilemma will, and I want to take my time and savour the experience.

(And make sure I don't cry over the pages at the same time...)

Personally, I still think this book was amazing. Sad, incredibly sad, but for the first time in the YW, the book really brought out all the characters inner emotions and showed what great people they are/were (sniff...). I felt that this book showed that even in a crisis such as this one, all of the characters were still as pure, reliable, and real. _Dilemma_, though sad, should definitly be read. Though I cried, it felt amazing that a book could strike so much emotion in me, which hadn't happened in many books before that.

Also, as a few people said before, the book wasn't totally focused on Nita and her family's pain. Yes, it was the major focus of the book, but there were still some very fun and interesting parts...Ponch's universes, Kit's conversation with the Transcendant Pig, and the other beings Nita meets while trying to save her mother.

All in all this was a great book...nobody should not read it (uhh...kind of a double negative... but you get the idea ).

*giggles*

Sorry, I was just recalling what happened when I was reading Dilemma the other day...

Me: (starts giggling very loudly) Tran...scendent Pig!
Mum: Huh?
Me: Transcendent Pig! Can I have one for Christmas?
Mum: O....K.
Me: Yay.

I think I lead a very disturbed life. Fun! but disturbed.
