I forgot to put this in my post, but I don't feel like going back and editing it. It sounds like you haven't read the series at all and are trying to learn what it's about. If that's the case, I can point you to some brilliant recaps. They're by Cleolinda on LiveJournal and they're absolutely brilliant. She tells it like it is, but also in the midst of "AGH, WHAT THE HECK IS THIS, MEYER??" she points out parts that she actually likes. Anyway, here's the link to all the recaps of the books:
