hmm...I don't read much mystery but I do know some good scifi!
The Foundation Novels by Isaac Asimov (good first three...after that they get weird and 70's)
Dragon and Thief by Timothy Zahn- reallly good, cool scifi, lots of action
Deep Secret by Diana Wynne Jones- it's a scifi-fantasy hybrid
Hexwood by Diana Wynne Jones- scifi and one of my all-time favorites. Don't be fooled by the first innocent little chapters....it's an amazing book and as full of twists as, as,
