Summary:

A coined term for the origin location of data passed to a wizard by the Powers that Be: also used for the direction in which data travels from the wizard on its way back to the Powers, or (via the data-transfer functions of the Manual) to other wizards.

The term attempts to translate the Speech-word tyuse'stie, which as usual indicates both direction and source of data more precisely. The English word "inline" would probably be a slightly better / more accurate translation, as pointing to a more central level of existence, but has already become too familiar in other usages.
