EricG1793: Dai Stiho DD!
kli6: DD!
wildflower: Hi!
Rad: Dai DD!
Mitchy: Dai DD!
tigger: dai DD
Gigo: Hi DD!
Aray: Dai DD! :)
marina salem: Hola DD
EricG1793: Welcome to our humble chat room!
Rad: long time no see :D
Diane Duane: (clutching head) I am blown away by Dr. Who tonight.
Diane Duane: (Hey GF!)
Diane Duane: Hey Rad!
kli6: oooo! Good finale?!
Mitchy: I thought there were some nice twists
kli6: I heard cliffhangers and everything...
Aray: *hides from DW spoilers*
Diane Duane: Kli -- Oboy, oboy.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Dai, Diane!
Garrett Fitzgerald: Garrett Fitzgerald hides with Aray, plugging his ears...
kli6: Series 3 starts up for us on Sci-Fi in two weeks.
Aray: Thankfully the new season starts airing on American television on the 6th, so I don't have to wait too long...
kli6: Oh. Next week. :)
Garrett Fitzgerald: Donna is making me watch he rest of Season 2 to prepare. :-)
Rad: DD, I'm dying to know when chapter 7 of TBM is going to be ready :)
Mitchy: it's a slow starting series but stick with it, there are some gems :)
kli6: And Torchwood on BBCA this fall, iirc.
Aray: I didn't like Torchwood much.
Garrett Fitzgerald: we just got through The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.
Diane Duane: Rad -- We're almost there. I'm taking July off to finish the book.
Mitchy: Ick, Torchwood. Total waste of Cap'n Jack
Aray: Agreed.
Rad: Oh sweet
kli6: Sweet!
Mitchy: cool :)
Garrett Fitzgerald: Garrett Fitzgerald applauds. Wait, you're taking July _off_ to _work_?
marina salem: DD: Sean would like to know how AWoM is coming...
tigger: DD: thats great. i cant wait to get the paper version]\
wildflower: Actually, he wanted to know if issues with Harcourt were being resolved yet. :P
Diane Duane: Marina -- It's fine, but there are issues at the publisher. Can't go into it here.
wildflower: He knows there *are* issues...
Diane Duane: Garrett -- For certain values of "off". (cockeyed look)
kli6: Break from the screenplay? v3.27?
Rad: Rad can't wait for AWOM
kli6: [did you need help with CVS?]
Mitchy: more like version 327 :P
Gigo: Poor Jamie. He's been trying for ages.
EricG1793: DD I have a question: The cover art for the US paperback version of A Wizards Abroad confuses me... who is the boy in the middle of the three standing there? We've come to a conclusion that it must be Kit.
Diane Duane: Wildf -- We're working on it. All I can say at the moment.
Garrett Fitzgerald: I assume WoW questions don't need spoiler warnings anymore, right?
Gigo: Ow.
wildflower: Eric, you might not want to use blinding green.
Diane Duane: Eric -- It's supposed to be Kit, yeah.
wildflower: It tends to leave your questions unanswered. :P
Rad: Oh and I have a Peruvian friend who is having trouble registering to get into the forums. She wants to know if there will be Spanish translations of the YW books
Diane Duane: Garrett -- I'd say so.
Gigo: Due to it hardly being readable.
Aray: What about the boats on that same cover? I was greatly baffled by those.
EricG1793: I don't know which color to use... Rad has this one.
Rad: Rad has dark purple :P
Gigo: White works.
Diane Duane: Rad -- So far there are no plans. For a Spanish translation you need a Spanish publisher, and so far, no one we've approached has been interested.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Ok, so I was wondering -- is Ponch a new Power like the Hesper, a Father of his People like Ith, or something new?
Rad: Ah, I see.
EricG1793: I'll use this one. No, white doesn't work...
EricG1793: LOL
tigger: DD: i have a question from the romulan series. What does Jim mean in Romulan?
Diane Duane: GF -- Would it be too cruel for me to say "Yes"?
Rad: Rad <3 Ith
Garrett Fitzgerald: tigger: like you think she's going to answer that one? :-)
kli6: :D
Rad: lol @ DD
Diane Duane: Tigger -- (grin) People have been asking me that for ages. I genuinely don't know.
Mitchy: DD - yes :)
wildflower: DD: Cruel, but expected of you by now :P
EricG1793: Dai Gigo.
tigger: DD: if you find out let me know :)
Rad: DD, are you going to do a top 10 quotes again?
Garrett Fitzgerald: Diane: I'm used to it, after how much work it took me to get you to pronounce t'Rllailieu at that con back in '86... :-)
Diane Duane: Re "Jim" -- I have a suspicion it means something like "putz".
EricG1793: Yeah, top 10 quotes!
Diane Duane: Garrett -- Heh heh heh heh.
tigger: DD: are you still planing to be in fargo, nd in september?
Diane Duane: Tigger -- That's the plan. I haven't heard anything from the con organizers in a while, though. This could be either good or bad.
Diane Duane: I *will* be in Vancouver for the Surrey International Writers thing, though.
EricG1793: DD I was looking at that map with the YW points of interest on it. It's very neat, it was cool to see! But what about the people who live in those houses...?
Rad: wasn't the number 1 quote from WAW "Oops"?
Diane Duane: Rad -- I think so.
tigger: i hope it works. i have some books i would love to get signed. i live near MPLS so i might be able to make it (i was hermione before - dont know if you remember me accidently created two accounts. not sure how)
EricG1793: If I lived in one of them I'd probably be ecstatic that my house was a YW point of interest!
marina salem: WB, Gigo
Aray: Dai, Gigo
Gigo: Whoops, sorry.
Rad: same, eric
Diane Duane: Eric -- I doubt they're going to suffer an influx of mad crazed Duane fans.
Aray: lol, you never know...
EricG1793: No, hopefully not...;)
Garrett Fitzgerald: Crazy Misty Lackey fans, on the other hand...
Rad: I wonder how many people have tried calling the phone numbers listed in the books?
Gigo: I think there's a thread about that.
Mitchy: if they're all 555 numbers, they wouldn't work :)
Rad: oh is there?
Rad: they're not all 555, I don't think
Gigo: Somebody tried, I think. I forget what happened.
EricG1793: Of course they're all 555 because they are the same area code.
EricG1793: They live in the same area, I mean.
EricG1793: But I'm not sure....
Aray: I think the 555 thing was only implemented in the past few years, so some of the original YW books might not have it...
Aray: I don't remember.
Garrett Fitzgerald: 555 is the exchange, not the area code...
Mitchy: 555 has been used in US tv for years
EricG1793: I didn't even think of trying to call a number.
Garrett Fitzgerald: 555 has been unassigned for quite a while...
EricG1793: EricG1793 looks at phone
Aray: Maybe I'm thinking of video games.
Gigo: An ARG would be fun.
Diane Duane: 555 has been a standard non-exchange number for quite a long time...
EricG1793: Oh.
Diane Duane: ...not sure how long, though.
Aray: Shows what I know, then. :)
EricG1793: Hopeefully it stays that way so people don't start getting spam calls.
kli6: What name would 555 have?
Garrett Fitzgerald: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/555_%28telephone_number%29
tigger: DD: are you going to write another book in the reatian tales series?
Gigo: Like that Jenny song.
Diane Duane: Probably a thing to do would be to fix those phone numbers when the books go back to press.
Rad: hmm...I think my face is sunburnt
EricG1793: Well everybody I've kept my dad waiting to go golfing long enough... I wish I could stay a bit longer, though!
Diane Duane: tigger -- I have a very rudimentary outline for books 2 and 3, but there are about six things in front of it.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Rad -- from being exposed to Diane too long? :-)
Mitchy: only 6 DD? Have you wittled the to do list down? :)
Aray: Dai, Eric!
kli6: Oh. 555 is the Klondike exchange.
Rad: Garrett: I was swimming earlier ;)
marina salem: Adios Eric
EricG1793: Goodbye everyone!
Rad: dai eric
Diane Duane: Mitchy -- (snort)
Diane Duane: Bye Eric!
kli6: So...what's the timeframe on Omnitopia , again? :-)
Rad: oh yikes, my shoulders too...
Rad: darnitall XD
tigger: are any more star trek books on the list?
Diane Duane: Kli -- They want those books fairly quickly. Ideally they'll all be done this time next year.
kli6: woot!
Rad: *ahem* Yes, I would like to see more star trek ones too :D
Garrett Fitzgerald: Diane, would you write for Star Trek:New Voyages, if asked?
Mitchy: Omnitopia?
kli6: see the last chat transcript. :)
Diane Duane: tigger -- I haev one planned: have to finish the outline and get it off to Marco at Trek.
Mitchy: I was at the last chat, Kathy, I must have amnesia :P
Diane Duane: Garrett -- Sheesh, I have no idea, I have to see what else they're up to.
Aray: I seem to remember reading something in last month's chat transcript about a Doctor Who short story you were working on, Diane. I for one am particularly excited about that. :D
Gigo: I liked Spider-man.
tigger: a friend of mine wanted me to ask you if you are planning a sequel to stealing the elf king's roses
Rad: gigo: I have the venom factor book but I haven't read it yet
Diane Duane: Aray -- It's gone in and been approved, though I need to cut it a little.
Aray: Fantastic! Fifth Doctor, wasn't it?
Diane Duane: Tigger -- No sequel planned for that one, really. I've given that universe zero thought since I left it.
Diane Duane: Aray -- Peter Davison, yeah.
Rad: DD are you going to be doing any other YW short stories similar to Uptown Local? I seem to recall hearing something about that.
Aray: I can't wait to read it. :D
kli6: RAd: "Theobroma"'s due out in November, I think.
tigger: my friend will be sad to hear that. :) although she said she wasnt sure what you would do after saving all the universes
Rad: Aha!
Garrett Fitzgerald: Question for the long-time Dr. Who watchers -- how's the new series stack up against the old ones? I love the new ones, but don't have much basis for comparison...
Diane Duane: Raed -- There is another story in the same universe; called "Theobroma" -- it'll be coming out in November in an anthology called "Wizards, Inc."
Diane Duane: Garrett -- These are *far* superior.
Aray: I'm too young to be considerd a long-time DW watcher, but I have seen many of the old episodes and I think the newer ones are just as good, in some cases better.
Diane Duane: Not just inFSFX. The writing is allowed to be far more intelligent than it used to be in the ancient day.
Aray: Agreed.
Mitchy: Oh I wouldn't go that far, DD. They're good and they've rejuventated the show but the old ones stand on their own.
Aray: I like the fact that the episodes are shorter, too. Sometimes having an episode that was broken up into six parts got a little tiring after awhile.
Mitchy: You have to judge them by the time when they were made
Garrett Fitzgerald: I _like_ long stories, though....
Aray: I like long stories too, when they're good. But when you got a bad one that just kept going on and on and ON...
Diane Duane: Mitchy -- Well, yeah. But the writing still strikes me as far sharper.
Rad: DD, have you ever seen House, M.D.?
Mitchy: Occasionally - I have major quibbles with RTD as a writer though
Mitchy: but some of the eps this season have been a joy
Diane Duane: Rad -- I've seen it. I seem to be missing the gene.
kli6: DD: You have to be a Holmes fan. :)
Diane Duane: Or I've done too much medical stuff in my own time and so don't see the charm.
kli6: ....and medically ignrant. :)
Rad: I mostly just love hugh laurie
Aray: Me too. I wouldn't watch the show at all if he wasn't in it.
tigger: my friend who is a dr cant stand the show. too many errors
Diane Duane: I tried watching Gray's Anatomy, too, and that didn't work either.
Mitchy: I watch too many US shows, had to prune back this year. House didn't make the cut :P
Rad: How about Heroes?
Aray: I never bothered. Too much emotionalism for my tastes.
Aray: Oooh. HEROES. *eyes light up*
Garrett Fitzgerald: Helps if you lived in Seattle at some point... made it hard to watch the ferry accident eps, though.
kli6: Yeah, but Bryan Fuller's doing PUSHING DAISIES in the fall.
marina salem: I love Heroes
kli6: HEROES is gonna be... lesser.
Mitchy: What do you watch for relaxtion DD? Assuming you have the time....
Rad: I want to see New Amsterdam
Garrett Fitzgerald: (We wouldn't even let the girls know what those were about, never mind watch them...)
Diane Duane: Mitchy -- I watch cartoons. I read old books. I websurf TOO MUCH.
Diane Duane: :)
kli6: Pushing Daisies is my #1 to-watch-for. I loved DEAD LIKE ME and WONDERFALLS.
Mitchy: *g* Just like the rest of us :)
Gigo: What about Jericho?
Aray: Dead Like Me is awesome. I love that show.
kli6: DD: You say that like those are bad things!
Rad: Do you ever read YW, DD? ;)
Garrett Fitzgerald: "websurf TOO MUCH" - boy, do I know the feeling....
Diane Duane: Rad -- Uh, no. I know how all the books end. :)
Rad: *snerk*
kli6: Which old books?
Diane Duane: Tonight, to relax, I make marmalade.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Diane: but it's the voyage, not the destination...
Rad: oooh marmalade
Mitchy: do you ever look back and go "Damn, wish I hadn't written it that way!"
Diane Duane: Kli -- Been rereading Amexandre Dumas.
Diane Duane: ALexandre.
kli6: Ah....
kli6: I did that last summer.
Diane Duane: Mitchy -- Constantly.
kli6: I'm doing Sabatini again this summer.
Aray: i can't imagine ever wanting to read my own books...you spend so much time writing and editing them that the idea of reading through them afterwards just doesn't seem appealing to me.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Diane, have you downloaded the Project Gutenberg DVD? 10000 old books at your beck and call....
Mitchy: I'm re-reading Austin at the moment, 's lovely :)
Diane Duane: Garrett -- Oh yeah, I dip in there.
kli6: Mitchy: The rose guy? [grin]
Diane Duane: Aray -- It's like that.
Rad: DD: I love Ring of the Nibelungs! (Blue sent me the DVD)
Mitchy: *snorts at Kli6* Typo, I'm allowed to typo :P
tigger: DD: did you find a way to do a group money contribution in memory of Peter? If you have I want to contribute
kli6: [grin]
Diane Duane: Rad -- Glad you had fun with it.
Garrett Fitzgerald: In (whatever the bloody name is), did you design the dragon? I thought it was amazing....
Diane Duane: Tigger -- We're still trying to figure out logistics on a group contribution -- meanwhile, single ones at the website work out fine.
tigger: ok
Diane Duane: Garrett -- No, the guys in LA did that. Same people as did the specials for Independence Day and Godzilla.
marina salem: How're the cats, DD?
Mitchy: hey, that's my question! *giggles*
Rad: Marina, I was about to ask that ;)
Diane Duane: marina -- They're in good shape. Just had to throw one off the desk, couldn't see the monitor...
marina salem: I is fast (sometimes)...:P
Aray: *snerk* I love it when mine plants himself right in the middle of a book I'm reading.
tigger: hehehe. what is it that attracts cats to the computer?
Garrett Fitzgerald: Invisible screen cover? :-)
Mitchy: mine brought in the first mouse of the year last week. *sighs*
tigger: roo is laying on the floor next to me. i prefer that to his usual attempts to type
Aray: lol
Garrett Fitzgerald: tigger -- CRTs interact with hyperstrings in a weird way, that's what attracts them...
Rad: garrett: LOL
tigger: garret: :)
kli6: How do you know it's not an LCD screen?
tigger: im afriad my cat is too dumbto be a wizard
marina salem: marina salem hears thunder
tigger: he tried to stand up through a glass table to get a toy
Aray: Maybe it's just a cover, to divert your suspicion!
Garrett Fitzgerald: I hear LCD are string-transparent, so not as much facination there.
Aray: Mine's pretty thick, too. I often wonder if he's faking.
tigger: if so, he has done well.
kli6: I'd assume so, from the lower power signature. :-)
Diane Duane: (pause) Oops, out of iced tea.
Garrett Fitzgerald: NO! NOT THE ICED TEA! *passes out*
tigger: roo is very sweet and affectionate. makes up for being dumb
Mitchy: mmm fancy hot tea....I need minions to go make me a cuppa *sighs*
kli6: Maybe it's thai iced tea.
kli6: With boba.
tigger: tigger was smarter but could be more annoying
Aray: Same with mine. He's endlessly loyal but not that bright.
Diane Duane: No, just regular Irish tea. With ice.
tigger: she used to get very annoyed with roo
Garrett Fitzgerald: I like bubble tea -- haven't found it around here yet, though.
Diane Duane: (a concept that locally should cause the universe to explode)
Rad: I have a feeling Alu will be here in a minute, if she can come into chat
kli6: Snee.
kli6: Like icing chrysanthemum tea. :)
tigger: bubble tea?
Mitchy: I'm surprised you haven't been run out of the country DD :)
Aray: Seems like there are a lot of things that should cause the explosion of the universe on a daily basis...
kli6: tigger: boba, pearl, zheng-zhu, etc. Tapioca pearls.
kli6: It's like having gummies in your drink.
tigger: eeew
Rad: er...that would be odd
Diane Duane: Fooey, no ice.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Yes, but yummy.
kli6: Sez you. :)
Rad: tuttle?
Aray: I'd be willing to try it, but that doesn't sound very appealing...
Garrett Fitzgerald: Hi Tuttle, bye tuttle
kli6: It's like chewing your tea.
Mitchy: eww
Aray: Sounding less appealing every second...
Gigo: Gigo smells a story arc for season fifteen.
Diane Duane: (roar) Great quote from John Simm. "I have eye-stubble from Tennant."
Diane Duane: (roar)
Mitchy: Watching that too, huh? :)
kli6: Snort. Snort.
Rad: Rad falls out of chair
kli6: I love Simm. LIFE ON MARS rocks.
Rad: dai Alu
Gigo: Dai!
Diane Duane: Mitchy -- "Dr. Who Confidential" is running in the b.g.
Aray: Dai!
kli6: Can't wait for the '80s sequel.
Gigo: Bubble tea is pretty good.
ALittleUnbroken: Dai Everyone
Mitchy: Same here, DD :)
Rad: tuttle!
Aray: I am a sad American. I have no DW of any sort in the background.
ALittleUnbroken: Tuddledear! Dai
Mitchy: Dai Tuttle *Glues Tuttle to the chat*
Tuttle: I made it it in! Finally!
Aray: Dai Tuttle!
Rad: yay *hug*
kli6: yay!
Diane Duane: Hey Tuttle!
marina salem: Hola ALU and Tuttle
Garrett Fitzgerald: Garrett Fitzgerald checks Wikipedia for context. Ah. I liked Juan Peron's take on the character, actually... :-)
Tuttle: I just tried like 10 times to make it in. And was pinging youngwizards.net repetitively watching my connection. But it eventually worked, so :)
Garrett Fitzgerald: Pryce! That's his name... *headdesk*
tigger: tuttle: isnt tecnology fun :)
Aray: I practically live on Wikipedia.
Aray: I don't know how I'd do research for my books (or anything else) without it.
Diane Duane: I spend too much time there myself.
Tuttle: I think alot of people spend too much time there
Rad: It's annoying when teachers won't let you use Wiki for research, even though I see their point XD
Mitchy: I love how you can search for something and then three hours later you're reading something several subjects removed from what you looked up originally :P
Garrett Fitzgerald: Garrett Fitzgerald has no idea what Tuttle is talking about. *looks innocent*
Aray: Sometimes I tease my dad and say "How did you ever learn ANYTHING without Wikipedia??"
Aray: Mitchy - I love that too.
Aray: I remember once I got lost in the section on vampires for hours.
kli6: I hate how you feel you have to edit it sometimes... :)
tigger: i'm a teacher. :) there was an article in out national magaize about wiki and using it for research pros and cons. some techers are allowing it as long as other sources are used too
Garrett Fitzgerald: kli - how so?
kli6: I'm staying away from the Comic-Con entry. I just am.
Diane Duane: Kli -- I do a lot of fixing punctuation.
kli6: I had to do a Max Headroom fix.
Tuttle: Tuttle rolls her eyes at Garrett
Tuttle: When it has so wrong of information, yes I know what you mean Kathy
kli6: Sometimes, you just have to.
Aray: I'm sure I'm going to break something so I never edit...
tigger: i figuire since i cant spell, i dont want to edit
kli6: Well, it gives you a better feel for what to trust and what not to.
Garrett Fitzgerald: I was down near the bottom of the WP:1000 list at one point. :-)
kli6: Is that their stats list? congratulations!!
Tuttle: I am getting horrible lag now that i'm here, but meh.
Tuttle: I end up editings only when I feel I need to
Garrett Fitzgerald: Or condolences, one or the other. :-)
tigger: great, my cat is on my keyboard again
Rad: Am i just imagining, or did DD mention something about a possible movie script a few months ago?
kli6: Hey, it's a legacy!
Aray: You're not imagining things. :)
Diane Duane: Rad -- Just turned in the latest draft.
Rad: !!!
tigger: when will filming start?
Tuttle: oooog, that's cool.
Rad: Draft as in a whole script?
Aray: Woohoo!
Diane Duane: Rad -- Oh, we've had several whole scripts. That's no big deal.
Diane Duane: The big deal is getting the *right* one.
Rad: Rad dies of happiness
kli6: What's the current version number? :)
Rad: We all get to be extras, right?! ;)
Gigo: Gigo laughs
Diane Duane: Kli -- 3.02.
Aray: *grins*
kli6: You need to CVS the sucker. :)
Garrett Fitzgerald: No, SVN! :-)
tigger: can we pick the part we want?
kli6: Well, version control of some kind!
Diane Duane: Tigger -- Much too soon to be thinking about when filming starts.
ALittleUnbroken: I swear I'm paying attention.
Diane Duane: We don't have a studio yet.
kli6: Preferably of the branch-and-merge variety.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Indeed.
Gigo: Use the Lego Backlot.
kli6: [laughter]
Rad: dai jamie!
Aray: Dai!
wildflower: Hey, Jamie, it finally let you in
marina salem: Hola
Wizardling: G'day guys
Diane Duane: Gigo -- Don't tempt me.
Rad: tigger: what part would you want, out of curiosity?
Wizardling: Heya Diane
Diane Duane: hi wiz!
kli6: DD: you could do a video podcast! with legos!!
Wizardling: Hello Kathy
kli6: Hey, Jamie!
Diane Duane: Kli -- I'm going to hide under the desk now.
Aray: Ooh, legos! XD
Rad: Kli! That's an awesome idea :D
Diane Duane: (hides)
Wizardling: Wizardling would love more wizcasts
Aray: lol!
Rad: Rad wants more wizcasts as well
kli6: Well someone else did the TBM oversight stuff already. :)
marina salem: Don't we all, Rad...
Rad: I like hearing your voice, DD :)
Wizardling: it is a nice voice
kli6: I just like how the website has a Valentine's Day entry, saying there'll be a podcast in a few weeks. :)
Diane Duane: Rad -- Well, I like hearing it too, but I try not to overdo it. ;)
Rad: hahahaha
Aray: I always think my voice sounds funny and small on podcasts. =P
Wizardling: Mine just sounds weird played back to me.
Rad: I sound like a stuffed turkey
Aray: lol!
Wizardling: A podcaster I will not be
Diane Duane: (websites, argh) Lee is going to be updating everything over July.
tigger: dd: are you going to post a top 10 favoraite lines from WOM before it is published?
Rad: I like Jamie's voice too :D
Aray: Websites are deceptively hard to keep up with.
Rad: <3 kiwi accents
Diane Duane: dianeduane.com is apparently going to be complete revamped.
Tuttle: I am a ghost turtle
kli6: Aray: that's what RSS feeds are for. :)
Diane Duane: tigger -- I might do that, yeah.
Wizardling: besides, if I can't even come up with content for a blog, how could I ever podcast?
Wizardling: Dai Tuttle
Garrett Fitzgerald: Garrett Fitzgerald resists the urge to start quoting Lilo and Stitch, which is playing in the next room...
Aray: kli - I had one for awhile but my dad uninstalled it. :P
Tuttle: Or I am not saying anything until I am unghosted that possible too. But was reading everything for a few minutes before
Wizardling: Diane? Monkey says hi.
Tuttle: ooh its working finally :)
kli6: Aray: just saying, if it weren't for RSS, I'd be reading a tenth of the blogs I do. :)
Diane Duane: Wiz -- Say hi back for me!
tigger: that would be great.
Rad: yay tuttle
Aray: kli - got any in particular you'd suggest? I'd love a new one.
kli6: Making Light.
Wizardling: relayed :)
Tuttle: and I just noticed Garrett had an orange head, was rather expecting that to happen eventually but congrats Garrett.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Second on ML.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Thanks, Tuttle. :-)
Aray: *makes a note* I'll check that out...
Garrett Fitzgerald: You might want to check out BoingBoing.net, if you don't already read it...
Aray: Actually I was there a couple days ago. :)
Aray: They had a link to a giant Optimus Prime cake. XD
Gigo: Optimus Prime is oh so very tasty.
Aray: *giggles* It was a pretty cool cake. I admire their dedication.
Wizardling: Gigo - he's a robot and male. Down boy!
Diane Duane: Oh dear, someone seems to have tried to drive a carbomb into the main terminal at Glasgow Airport.
Diane Duane: (mutter)
kli6: (mutter)
Wizardling: ANOTHER carbomb?
Mitchy: I read about that earlier. Wasn't a terribly good car bomb from what they said
Aray: Eep.
Wizardling: related?
tigger: it was on the news here this morning. they said the caught one of the ppl in the car
Diane Duane: Happened this morning, apparently.
Wizardling: gods
ALittleUnbroken: Well that's pleasant.
Wizardling: Wizardling looks up BBC news
Diane Duane: tigger -- Yeah, had to put him out with a fire extinguisher.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Huh. They said the first one wasn't terribly good, either.
tigger: at least no one at the airport was hurt
tigger: they siad he pour petrol on himself. that is a special kind of stupid
Mitchy: personally, I'd have put him out with a flamethrower but nobody asks me :P
Diane Duane: (sigh) Meanwhile at least I get to see the last X-men movie this evening. While making marmalade.
kli6: Did you see Chris?
Rad: I like that movie, DD
Wizardling: thank goodness these bombers seem to be incompetent
Gigo: I wouldn't say stupid. Crazy, maybe.
Mitchy: regular marmalade or something with a twist?
Wizardling: X3?
Aray: I don't think I've ever made marmalade before. Maybe I should try that sometime.
Gigo: Infused with an infusion.
Diane Duane: (sudden laughter) Oh dear, Sky TV's TV guide page screws up.
Gigo: Of papaya.
kli6: no X3?
Diane Duane: They have Tony Bourdain's series showing. He comes to Dublin...
Rad: DD, if it's X3 there's an extra scene after the credits
Diane Duane: and goes to a restaurant called "King Sitric"...but Sky's TV guide rendered this as...
Diane Duane: "King Critic".
Gigo: I saw that scene! With the mysterious man.
Mitchy: hehehehehe
Aray: *snickers*
Rad: shush gigo
Gigo: No spoilers here :)
Garrett Fitzgerald: CO2 lasers that print ads on peanuts? *headdesk*
Gigo: Hey, roasted peanuts aren't bad.
Diane Duane: Garrett -- Did you see the thing on BoingBoing the other day about the laser-etching guy who etched Spock onto a matzoh?
Wizardling: laser roasted
Wizardling: yummy
Aray: I saw that.
Wizardling: now that would be cool
Tuttle: ...spock on a matzoh, that is really cool
Garrett Fitzgerald: No, missed it. Have to read back further, I guess. :-)
Rad: i heard Nimoy singing the dreidel song once (Sorry if I misspelled that)
Aray: Beats finding religious figures on your grilled cheese sandwich any day. XD
Wizardling: I think we should use lasers for more everyday tasks
Gigo: Such as going to work.
Wizardling: I'd like lasers dust to replace vacuming.
Wizardling: *lasering
Diane Duane: Heh. Peter just brought in the habanero chiles we're putting in some of the marmalade.
Garrett Fitzgerald: Spock on a matzoh? Is that anything like Christ on a crutch?
Diane Duane: We had them simmering in hot sugar syrup. OH BOY.
Wizardling: mmmm
Diane Duane: Garrett -- It ought to be, yeah.
Mitchy: You must have throats made of asbestos :P
Aray: My dad's growing a habanero plant. We should be seeing fruit on it fairly soon. His cayenne is already starting to grow. :)
Gigo: Marmalade brand Omai.
Wizardling: DD... you going to offer a jar on Ebay?
Wizardling: I'd buy.
ALittleUnbroken: Well despite how entirely talkative I'm being today, I must leave. My dearest father needs help in the yard. Or at very least someone to sit in te yard with him incase he hurts himself.
Diane Duane: This batch of marmalade will get split...one half will be regular and one half will be "Deadly Shred".
Wizardling: Dai ALU
Aray: lol
Diane Duane: ALU -- thanks for stopping by!
Rad: deadly shred? O.o
Aray: Dai ALU!
Mitchy: deadly shred - I like that :)
Tuttle: lol, "Deadly Shred" sounds amusing

Aray: Sorry Tigger. :D
Diane Duane: Mitchy -- You may have seen, one of the companies does a lemon marmalade called "Silver Sgred".
ALittleUnbroken: Nice to attend a chat with you for the first time Diane!
Diane Duane: Shred.
ALittleUnbroken: dai everyone.
Rad: Rad was just eating some homemade enchiladas earlier
marina salem: Food is your friend, tigger
Garrett Fitzgerald: Diane, if you ever get to Seattle, you should go to Dixie's BBQ for lunch. They have a sauce called "The Man". :-)
Garrett Fitzgerald: It's deadly...
Mitchy: mmm sounds nice, have to look out for that :)
Diane Duane: Garrett -- this sounds like Peter's department, I'll have him make a note.
kli6: Is Dixie's the place without any seating inside?
Garrett Fitzgerald: Kathy, yes.
Garrett Fitzgerald: No!
Garrett Fitzgerald: Sorry, blanked. :-)
tigger: food is not my friend my dr has me on a stirct 960 calorie liquid diet
Wizardling: Could lasers be used to make marmalade?
Garrett Fitzgerald: They have seats.
Diane Duane: Wiz -- You win the "Most Quotable Line From This Chat" award.
Aray: No, but they could be used to make cool patterns on the toast you spread the marmalade onto.
kli6: My sister took me to some awesome BBQ place in Seattle, but I don't remember the name of it.
Wizardling: :D
Aray: lol, congrats Wiz. XD
Wizardling: Wizardling *pride*
Diane Duane: "Remind me again how sheep's bladders may be used to prevent earthquakes."
kli6: Wiz: no idea, but I'll ask Jon Singer. :)
Aray: *giggles*
Tuttle: ....that is an amazing line.
Wizardling: Hey Tuttle - you going to see Transformers?
kli6: Singer once described making a spinach laser...
Tuttle: Jamie, yeah right. :p of course not.
Tuttle: A spinach laser?
Wizardling: awwww
Wizardling: but it's ROBOTS!
kli6: Used the chlorophyll as a lasing medium...
Gigo: I'ma buy you a drink.
Diane Duane: OK, a spinach laser I can handle. But NO cauliflower lasers.
kli6: He was tempted to try with tumeric, he told me.
kli6: Or saffron...
Aray: That would be very colorful.
kli6: I am not a laser-gal, so a lot of what he said zipped over my head.
Wizardling: I think we should make a scottish laser. Use tartan as a lasing medium.
Tuttle: Jamie, but havve named a robot we made Optimus P.R.I.M.E (can't remember what it stood for though) it was a transformer.
Diane Duane: Eek.
Diane Duane: Tartan lasers. Oog.
kli6: http://www.bazilians.org/jonsinger/
Aray: brb
kli6: Which y'know, has the classic page on peep jousting. I think.
Diane Duane: Troops, with regret, the marmalade and the X-men are calling. I have to see if this movie is as bad as I've heard it is.
Mitchy: it is but booze helps
Rad: LOL Mitchy
Rad: Well, have a lot of fun DD :D
Garrett Fitzgerald: Not unless you consider how good it _should_ have been...
tigger: have fun hope xmen isnt too bad
Wizardling: and an Irish laser. Freeze some guinness and lase it.
kli6: DD: Chris has a cameo at the begining! Look for the shot with Stan!
Wizardling: Dai DD!
Diane Duane: Mitchy -- Unfortunately there's no booze in the house. I'll have to make do with Norfolk Punch or something similar.
Tuttle: have fun DD
marina salem: Go well DD
Mitchy: or chili marmalade - swap one kind of pain for another :D
